I Blew That, So Here’s My Consolation Prize

my hope for my girl

I blew NaBloPoMo yesterday, so the consolation prize is actually for you. I’ve been compiling some of my favorite ads in  my head and since it’s the beginning of the week, figured we could all use a chuckle, inspiration or a little tear in one case.

Inspire me:

I like to think that I’m a pretty brave person, but I’m nothing compared to “Fearless” Felix Baumgartner. When I first heard about what he was doing, I thought “Dude is crazy” and after the excursion was cancelled three different times due to weather, I thought it was all a hoax and forgot about it until Jen texted me that it was on yesterday. As luck would have it, it was just me and my science-loving girl Sydney at home so we tuned in and watched while we were  baking Knock You Naked brownies. Hey – you gotta teach them young to be well rounded.. Since the ascent was so long, we ended up watching the freefall from the Goodwill parking lot and were blown away like everyone else in the world. This is a great recap of the event, edited down to a minute and a half-

I’m hooked on a feeling:

Ran into the best video today. Next to the hand-written note I received from my friend Arminda, it was the highlight of my day. You MUST watch it til the end or you won’t get that big, warm, fuzzy feeling in your belly like I did. Trust me – it’s totally worth it.

I can’t help but chuckle..

Snoop Dog makes me laugh. There’s just something about him that I can’t turn away.. kind of like a train wreck but in a “good” kind of way. I literally stumbled on this today and I laughed my arse off.. at least on the inside. Okay..one snort got out. Wait.. did I just say snort and Snoop in the same statement? Yeah.. I guess I did. Anyhow…

Dads get their due:

Moms got a lot of commercial love during the Olympics, so it’s nice to see an ad that’s honoring dads. I have to imagine everyone’s seen this Google Chrome commercial by now, but if you haven’t, you may want to grab a tissue. And I’ll leave it at that -
