Life In A Southern Town
I was born and raised in NC and made my first move out of the state at the age of 22. Over the next 15 years, I would live in Chicago, Vail and Philadelphia.. with a couple of moves BACK to NC worked in there for good measure. I resisted living here in NC during my single days, but when you have a family and you live in an area where there is NO family, suddenly “home” looks a little bit sweeter. We packed our bags and our truck for what I hope will be the last time and headed back to the South. There’s a misconception that anyone who lives below the Mason-Dixon line is a slow, back-ass hick. Update on Cotillion
Back in August, I mentioned that I had (willingly) signed Mackenzie up for Cotillion. This past Wednesday was the first.. class? session? gathering? Not sure what to call it. A couple of observations.. 1) There were many more kids there than I thought would be there. Must have been over 100, easy. 2) When we first arrived at the country club, there were 2 young lads (appropriate time to use that word) sitting in front looking very stuffed in their suit and tie. 3) Same 2 boys stopped me in my tracks when they informed me this was a THREE year adventure (WHAT?!?!) 4) Everyone had that same pre-pubescent nervous titter to them. What *I* would teach at Cotillion
I returned from a conference yesterday and was reminded of the moment back in May where I (apparently) lost my senses and agreed to let my 11 year old attend Cotillion classes.
